What Bonasea is — and what it is not

Bonasea is a planning and decision-support aid. It does not replace official nautical charts, publications or regulations, and it does not replace the skipper’s judgement.

The comfort score is an estimate produced from weather models. It is not a promise about the sea. Model uncertainty grows with every day ahead, local effects such as gusts off a mountain or a squall line are not fully captured, and depths are modelled averages rather than a survey of your bay.

The skipper remains responsible for the boat, the crew and the decision to go. Keep your official charts and publications on board, read the warnings issued for the waters you are in, and trust your echo sounder over the app.

Your account

You need an account to use Bonasea. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; the account is for you, not for resale or sharing.

You can delete your account at any time, and what you put in it goes with it.

Plans and payment

There are three plans. The Trial is free and lasts three days. Charter costs €9.90 and lasts seven days. Pro costs €39.90 and lasts one year. Prices include VAT.

Nothing renews automatically. Each plan is a fixed length of time; when it runs out, Bonasea stops. There is no subscription in the background and nothing to cancel.

Every plan carries the same features, except that the free trial does not include offline map packs.

Your boats and routes stay on your account after a plan ends, and are there again when you start a new one.

Cancellation and refunds

If you are a consumer in the European Union you normally have fourteen days to withdraw from a distance purchase. Digital content you start using immediately is an exception, which is why the trial exists: use it first, then decide.

If something is wrong with what you paid for, write to [email protected] and we will sort it out.

A plan bought through the App Store or Google Play is refunded through that store, under its own rules.

Availability

We aim to keep Bonasea running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Forecasts depend on public data sources that can themselves be delayed or unavailable, and the app needs a connection to fetch a new one.

Liability

Bonasea is offered as an aid, and is used at your own discretion. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions taken on the water, for damage to a boat, or for loss arising from a forecast that turned out differently from the model.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so rather than quietly editing the page.
